Spring! Ughhh!!! Spring is not my favorite season. The pollen, the allergies, the unseasonably warm days, the pollen, the end-of-school busyness, the spring cleaning... Did I mention the pollen? Yes, there are many reasons why I do not prefer spring over the other seasons, but, I must admit, there are many things that make spring beautiful and welcoming too. I do love riding down the road and seeing the fresh green grass and flowering plants. I like seeing people out working in their yards and families flying kites and riding their bicycles in my neighborhood. I like that everything gets a new beginning in spring. It's so refreshing!
Spring reminds me that we all need a fresh start now and again. It reminds me to be patient with myself and with others, and it reminds me that God has a way of making all things new. He can take what is broken and make it new. He turns death into life and mourning into dancing. Isaiah 61:3 says that he gives us beauty for ashes. In fact, Isaiah 61 is full of ways that God mends and heals and delivers His children. It is worth a read. What joy and hope can be found in those verses!
Seeing how God uses spring to bring about newness and life makes a bit more enjoyable. I guess I don't mind the spring cleaning all that much, and the pollen doesn't stick around forever. Plus, that end-of-school busyness only means that summer is right around the corner. Maybe spring is not so bad after all.

Father God,
I am so thankful that you have given me new life and that your mercies are new every morning. Thank you for giving us a fresh start each and everyday. Thank you for walking with us and for making all things new. This journey with you is so worth it. I love you, Father.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
